Priming: Ensure the surface to be painted is primed and sealed. A simple test is to spray the surface with water. If the water is absorbed, the wall is unsealed. Prime and topcoat with a paint that has a sheen level no less that a velvet.

Before you Start: The effect that you want to achieve is a visual enhancement of your walls. The choice of colour is one of the most crucial elements. For best results, do your technique on a sample board first. This will allow you to see how your choices work together before you invest the time and effort in the final project.

Colour Selection: Keep it "In the Family." When choosing colours, to be on the safe side, pick colours from the same colour strip (monochromatic). If choosing different hues, try to keep the colours in the same tonal value, so one colour doesn't try to dominate.

A deadbolt is typically installed about 30 cm above or 15 cm below a lockset. But that's not to say that you can't position a deadbolt at any height on the door that's convenient.
